Kuldip Nayar : I was not thinking of it from a personal point of view . From the country's viewpoint , probably we would have become a nation dedicated to certain values, dedicated to ethos of independence . That's why I said the longer we go through this period , the better it is for the nation . It would suffer , it would go through all these pangs and, it would come out of it .----------

No Sense in Absolute Nonsense - Only for Absolute Nonsense =

* तो बात यह है कि बात उतनी ही नहीं होती जितनी ऊपर से दिखती है या हमें दिखाई जाती है | सत्य के पीछे कई सच्चाईयाँ छिपी होती हैं |

* भला यह बार क्या होता है ? बार में होता क्या है ? रात के दस बजे का अकेलापन क्या कहता है ?

* क्यों भूल जाते हैं - यह देश है ' वीर जवानों ? का ,अलबेलों का मस्तानों का ' ? और यह  केवल बारातियों के नाचने के लिए प्रयुक्त होने वाला गाना नहीं है | यह राष्ट्र भक्ति , राष्ट्रीय चरित्र की उद्घोषणा करना वाला उपयुक्त गीत है |' |

* फिर आ गई न वही इज्ज़त की बात ! अभी ज्यादा दिन तो नहीं हुए उस गंभीर बहस के | कहाँ गए वो लोग जो "स्त्री की योनि में कुंडली मारे बैठे साँप" पर बड़ा ऐतराज़ जता रहे थे ?  भाई , कहीं ठहरिये तो सही ? ठीक है , शारीरिक दुर्व्यवहार हुआ , क्षति हुई , निश्चय ही गलत बात है | बस उसे उतना ही मानिये | पर उसे अविलम्ब स्त्री की 'इज्ज़त' से क्यों जोड़ दिया गया ? या फिर यह  मान ही लीजिये कि हाँ  सचमुच , स्त्री की योनि में "इज्ज़त का तुलसी का पौधा" होता है ,जो पुरुष के लिंग पर नहीं उगता | 

* गुवाहाटी के गुनहगार यदि पकडे नहीं गए हैं , और उनमें से कोई फेसबुक पर होगा , तो वह भी वही सब लिख रहा होगा - ' नारी की इज्ज़त खतरे में है , पुरुषों को मार गिराओ ' | 16/7/12

Born on 9/9/1946 in a remote village of Basti [ now Sidharth Nagar ] U.P. Father , Late Bishambhar Nath ,a Panchayat Clerk . Mother , Akelmati , a housewife , [ who used to go psychic sometimes , which I , perhaps inherited positively  in my nature in the shape of  ' pagalpan' , untiring zeal and dedication to and unfearful involvement in my  work . ]

Educated at village school upto Middle class , Passed High School from Tehsil Town  in 1960 . For Intermediate I was boarded at Gorakhpur City and passed it in 1962 [all second division ]. Joined Gorakhpur Varsity [ PCM stream ] but the year spoiled due to students' unrest and my illness . Next year I was told to be eligible for a degree course at MLN Engg college [just started] but was denied admission for being under age . My father , then , brought me to Lucknow and got me admitted in Govt Polytechnic which I left with a Diploma in Mechanical Engg [first class] . Just then, I got the job of ,now called Junior Engineer . I was married at the age of 15 and started service at  20 . Bas, this is my physical biodata . Promoted to the post of Assistant Engineer and got Executive Engr's grade I took voluntary retirement in 2/2004 mainly because I was not interested in it and my liabilities were over. My elder daughter and younger son were settled . They have their Job ,spouses and kids .

Last - My name in certificates is Ugra Nath Srivastava . Adopted surname ' Nagrik ' mainly for poetry writing which I started in seventies , and then for ' Jati Chhodo Andolan ' , which was my first step in social activism .

Rest , my mental , spiritual , social ,literary and political profile is a long story which I am unable to present in black and white .

First , please let me provide you some [ dirty ? ] dozen materials in different forms , shape and style , Work [ more ] and then to talk [ less ] ahead . Yours' - ugra nath

Sir , Thanks for showing trust in me . No doubt  that I am a dedicated and deeply involved atheist-humanist on my own , irrespective of what other individuals ,societies and institutions say in this regard . I am a vivid and boundless freethinker and frenetic writer which often alienates me from my friends [ they care their political correctness] . I keep on fishing ideas and coining strategies for the betterment of humanity and national polity . Though I am very polite and civil in nature [ mostly because of inferiority complex ] , I am equally rigid   in my nature and logically cantankerous too  [ for the given time ] . So , I avoid being in public . Hesitatingly , I could not visit you while in Delhi last month and I do not send my writings to you [also due to their being in Hindi ] . And also for the reason that I have no academic background and degrees in the field  , though I have full confidence in me and I mean what I say . Oh , sorry  for the stretch . 

However , your proposal is a long awaited one , and I am sure I can contribute from my head to tail towards this task . But the problem ,as of now , is that I am a flash , gonzo and , personalized  - short  script writer , sometimes  a slogan monger and often fail to develop them in a quality article form . Nevertheless , I am enthralled with your idea and shall do whatever I can , because You are carrying on my own mission ahead . Shortly , I shall be mailing you some of the pieces for your inspection , Many of them are available on my blog [nagriknavneet.blogspot.com]  under Lebel - " Dharm - Karm". From some days I have stopped separating them from my other poetic , literary and political writings . 

Not necessary to mention , by the way , I don't  wish going my writings by my name . I have written more than 30 books {and a lot is unpublished} ,all copyright free. 

I think ,I am the only LM of Indian Secular Society Pune [now Mumbai] at Lucknow.

I shall  be  sending you the Form with Rs 1000/- cheque on Monday .

Thanks for your confirmation.
For some time now the need has been felt for there to be a Hindi version of the Humanist Outlook.  However, due to a paucity of resources, it has not been possible to put this into effect.
One thing that we could perhaps do, if you agree, is to have, in the Humanist Outlook, a Hindi Column of one to two pages as a regular feature written by you.  This will be in the Devanagari script.  To start with, we will ,I think, need a 'bank' of about four to six articles for publication in the forthcoming issues so that there is no gap in the publication.  Your grasp of, and devotion to, the Humanist view of life is evident from your writings. Do please let me know your initial reaction to this proposal, so that we can pursue the matter further.

* मैं आधिकारिक कम्युनिस्ट तो नहीं , पर वर्गभेद समझता हूँ | मैं दैनिक व्यवहारों में क्लास देखता हूँ और उसका ख्याल रखता हूँ | जैसे यदि मेरी आमदनी २० हज़ार है तो मैं इतनी ही आमदनी वाले लोगों से रसूख रखता हूँ | इससे ज्यादा धनाढ्य लोगों से एक दूरी सुनिश्चित कर लेता हूँ , और उस सीमा के आगे उनसे रब्त -ज़ब्त नहीं रखता | उधार भी लेने की ज़रुरत पड़े तो अपने ही लोगों से लेता हूँ | बड़े लोगों के आगे हाथ पसारो तो उनके संदेह का सामना करना त्रासद हो जाता है कि यह आदमी रूपये वापस नहीं कर पायेगा , भले ही वह रक़म कितनी ही छोटी हो |

* दो गज़ - दो इंच := बहादुर शाह ज़फर जी ' दो गज़ ज़मीन भी न मिली कू-ए-यार में ' कहते - कहते स्वर्ग सिधार गए | अब उनके हिंदुस्तान के युवा वारिस बालक शाह लोग दो इंच ज़मीन पर शेरो शायरी - गीत ग़ज़ल , कवितायेँ लिखकर अपनी अपनी गति को प्राप्त होंगे | [ बदमाश चिंतन ] 

* दलितों की लड़ाई सवर्णों से है , तो जब सवर्ण हारेंगे तभी तो दलित जीतेंगे ? इसलिए हम सवर्णों को चाहिए कि हम ख़ुशी - ख़ुशी दलितों से हार जाएँ |

* सब आदमी हैं , ऐसा मानता तो हूँ लेकिन बस दिल - दिल में | आँखों से तो देखता हूँ कि कुछ लोग आदमी ' नहीं ' भी होते हैं | जैसे वह गोरे रंग का लम्बा चौड़ा - हट्टा कट्टा मोटी सी सोने की चेन पहने रिवाल्वर धारी आदमी | मैं इन जैसों को आदमी मानने को तैयार नहीं हूँ | मेरे आदर्शों का हवाला देकर यदि आप मुझसे बलात इन्हें आदमी मनवाने की जिद करेंगे , तो मैं कह दूँगा कि वे कुछ 'ज्यादा आदमी ' होंगे - more man  - animal |

मैं यह कैसे मान लूँ कि जिसके पास बँगला है , गाड़ी है , बैंकशेष है वह मेरे बराबर हो जायगा , जिसके पास पूरे दो कमरे हैं , एक फटफटिया है , वेतन के लिए इंतज़ार करने को पूरा महीना है उसकी यह हिम्मत ? उसका सौभाग्य कहाँ मेरे बराबर आदमी बनने का ?

* मैं पेट्रोल पम्प वाले से ठिठोली करता हूँ - यार यह कैसा पेट्रोल डालते हो दो दिन में ख़त्म हो जाता है ? कोई सालिड , अच्छी क्वालिटी का तेल डालो , एक लिटर महीना भर तो चले ! वह हँस देता है , मेरा माइलेज बढ़ जाता है |

* लोग पैसा कमायें और उस पर टैक्स दे दें , यह पर्याप्त नहीं है | उनके अकूत धन अर्जन पर ही रोक लगनी चाहिए | व्यवस्था होनी चाहिए कि कोई कितना कमा रहा है , लाभ उठा रहा है , वह अंकुश में हो और सीमित हो |

* मंत्रियों के बयान बढ़ - चढ़ कर आते हैं , दिन में सड़क की बत्तियां जलीं तो खैर नहीं , भ्रष्टाचारियों को बख्शा नहीं जायगा , इत्यादि | लेकिन जनाब , यह आप कह किससे रहे हैं ? जनता इसे सुन कर क्या करेगी ? इसे अपने अधीनस्थों से कहिये तो उन्हें आदेश दीजिये , या अखबार में आपका वक्तव्य ही आदेश है ? दरअसल यह नाटक केवल अपने को सक्रियऔर कर्मचारियों को निष्क्रिय प्रदर्शित करने का साधन है | तो ऐसा करें कि फिर कर्मचारियों को भी प्रेस में जाने की छूट दे दें तब पता चले आप की बातों में कितनी सच्चाई है कितना झूठ ? तब वे खुलासा करेंगे कि नेताओं ने उनसे क्या क्या करने को कहा , कितना पैसा ऐंठा , कितने गैर कानूनी काम करवाए ? मेरा ख्याल है कि स्वच्छ शासन - प्रशासन के लिए भले अधिकारियों - कर्मचारियों का सीधे जनता द्वारा चुनाव न हो जैसा कि कुछ विद्वान  सुझाते हैं और शायद किन्ही मुल्कों में यह प्रचलित भी है , लेकिन उन्हें जनता के प्रति जवाबदेह Accountable तो होना चाहिए | तब वे जनता से जुड़ेंगे और नेताओं के अनुचित दबाव को नकार भी सकेंगे |

* - - -  इसीलिये मैं कहता हूँ अंतर करना सीखो,अंतर करना जानो | अच्छे बुरे में अंतर नहीं करोगे तो बुरा आदमी अच्छा क्यों बनना चाहेगा , और अच्छा व्यक्ति बुराई से क्यों दूर रहना चाहेगा जब सब धान बाईस पसेरी के भाव होगा ? इस विचार में कोई जातिवाद या गैर बराबरी का दोष नहीं है | यह वैज्ञानिक समझ , संचेतना और संस्कृति के अंतर्गत है |

* फेसबुक पर महिला मित्रों से निवेदन है कि अभी कुछ दिन मुझसे अपने को बचाकर रखें | यद्यपि मैं आदमी अब तक तो ठीक ठाक ही हूँ , लेकिन आजकल अनंग कामदेवता के बलशाली - बिगडैल बच्चे भी तो दिन - रात सड़कों पर सानन्द - निर्द्वंद्व विचरण कर रहे हैं ! पता नहीं कब वे मुझे पराजित करके अपने कब्ज़े में ले लें , और मुझसे अपना काम संपन्न करा लें ?  15/7/12

* लिखिए , लिखिए

सामान्य तरीके से ही लिखिए

अपने मन से

बिना संगठन बनाये लिखिए ,

लिखेंगे , लिख पाएँगे 

और कोई पढ़ेगा

तो प्रभाव तो पड़ेगा ही |

लेकिन यदि

बिना संगठन बनाये

काम नहीं चल रहा है 

लिख नहीं पा रहे हैं ,

लिखने की ऊर्जा

नहीं जुटा पा रहे हैं ,

विषय वस्तु , आयाम ,

खोज नहीं पा रहे हैं

कोई आंतरिक दबाव ,

अन्दर से हवा का झोंका 

महसूस नहीं कर पा रहे हैं

तो सगठन बना लीजिये

सगठन बनाकर लिखिए ,

लिखिए , लिखिए  तो सही

रेफरी तो बाहर है -

* मैं कुछ भी हूँ , गाँधीवादी ,लोहियावादी , समाजवादी , साम्यवादी , जातिवादी , दलितवादी ,ब्राह्मणवादी , नारी -पुरुषवादी आदि कुछ भी , हूँ तो वह मैं ही ! व्यक्तिवादी ?   

* कुछ लोगों के पास अनुभव के सिवा कुछ नहीं होता , कुछ्लोगों के पास अनुभव के सिवा बाक़ी सब होता है |

* ठीक है अनामिका , निर्मला पुतुल हमारी प्रिय कवियत्रियाँ हैं | वे हमारे कान उमेठती , बाहें मरोड़ती ,  झापड़ लगती अच्छी लगती हैं | क्योंकि वे उस समाज की कड़ी परख करतीं , झकझोरती , खबर लेती हैं जिसके हम स्वयं हिस्सा हैं, गुनहगार हैं  | लेकिन सुशीला पुरी की कवितायें तो ऐसी होती हैं जो होती तो उनकी अपनी हैं पर हमारे कलेजे में सीधे उतर जाती हैं | ऐसी ही एक और कवि हैं मृदुला हर्षवर्धन 'नाज़ ' | कर नहीं पाऊँगा वर्ना मेरी उत्सुकता यह कहती है कि ऐसी कविताओं के लिए एक " सुशीला पुरी काव्य मंच " बनाऊँ और उसका लोगो रखूँ - ' अंतस्तल से या अंतस की गहराई से ' | वाकई , बड़ी अच्छी कविताएँ करते हैं ये लोग - छंदविहीन हिंदी पंक्तियों में पुराने शायरों की महान गजलों की तरह कोमल , ह्रदयस्पर्शी | इनको साधुवाद |

शरद यादव के मंदिरों की संपत्ति -संबंधी बयान पर मेरा अल्पबुद्धि से कहना यह है कि यदि भारत हिन्दू राज्य होता , या यदि इसे ऐसा वे मानते हैं तो वह प्रशंसा के पात्र हैं | बल्कि उन्होंने तो हमारे मुँह की बात छीन ली , और उन्होंने हमारे प्रतिनिधि की भूमिका निभाई | लेकिन यदि देश हिन्दू राज्य नहीं है [ जैसा कि वह मानते हैं , हमें पता है ] , तो उन्होंने निश्चय ही दोअंखियाही की है | सेकुलर नेता को तब यह भी देखना था कि गुरुद्वारों , ईसाई मिशनरियों के पास कितना धन है ? खाड़ी देशों से कितना धन -प्रपात हो रहा है हिंदुस्तान पर ? और उनका क्या उपयोग हो रहा है ? वह संपत्ति कुछ कम तो नहीं है ? और हाँ , क्यों नहीं , जैसा कि किसी मित्र ने टिप्पणी की , उद्योग - पूँजी पतियों , राजनेताओं और राजनीतिक दलों के पास कितना पैसा है, क्यों नहीं पूछा जायगा ? खाप पंचायत के अपने गाँव के प्रबंधन हेतु किसी स्थानीय दिशा निर्देश [विकेंद्रीकरण के प्रशंसक - राजीव गाँधी समर्थक अपने मार्ग से हटें नहीं] पर तो पूरी राज्य मशीनरी हरक़त में है , और जब कहाँ कहाँ- यहाँ वहाँ से अनेक दकियानूसी फ़तवे -फ़रमान आते हैं , तब वे कहाँ दुबक जाते हैं ? जब कि वे निर्देश एक - दो गाँव के लिए नहीं हिंदुस्तान के एक बड़े समुदाय के लिए होते  हैं  | क्या सारे सुधार का ज़िम्मा , लोकतान्त्रिक अनुशासन की  ज़िम्मेदारी वहन की दरकार सिर्फ हिन्दू समाज से ही होगी ?
